DOS Games in Windows XP or Vista

How to Play Classic DOS Games in Windows XP or Vista?

Would you like to play those awesome games back in the old Windows days? Games such as Space Quest, Commander Keen and Sierra ruled supreme can be played even in Microsoft Windows Vista Version..

Windows Vista’s application compatibility is very much same as Windows XP. Winows Vista is enabled to emulate anything from older windows version from Windows 95 to Windows 2003 SP1, The main issue with Vista is here, none of which directly helps you with DOS.

If you run an old DOS game on Windows Vista, you’ll get an error something like “This system does not support full screen mode.” There is a fix for this problem. You need to download a copy of DOSBox. This application is a MS-DOS emulator for any platform (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and more). By running your game under DOSBox, you will get support for old-school graphics like CGA and EGA.

DOSBox is an opensource application. It runs up a shell window which will emulates a DOS environment perfectly and it handles all requests between Windows and the DOS window. Thus compatibility will not become an issue in Windows Vista. This application even supports sound effect of old Classic Games.

DOSBox application also emulates the processor, so it can ramp the available CPU cycles up or down without having to quit the shell.

So, download DOSBox and load up some of those Classic DOS games. Play it on Windows Vista and Have Fun!
