 Parent Safety Tips - Teach Your Teen to Use Myspace Safely
Myspace is a popular online community with millions of personal profiles. Among Internet Users between the ages 14 and 18, it is common to have a myspace profile. However the safety of using myspace is a growing concern over online predators. Many users fall into risk by revealing personal information even though myspace has taken action to improve safeguards. By looking at these simple rules, parents can right action on protecting their children.
1. Always use a fake name exclusively for Myspace Profile. If you use frequently used nicknames, which becomes traceable. Using a real name will help fraud users to trace to an address, phone number and other information.
2. Create a Free Webmail account for Myspace use. Help your child to enter false information on webmail account so it will not cross reference to real name. If you use that email address elsewhere, it will cause to reveal true identity.
3. Teach your child not disclose even a clue about the location. Make sure that your child put no references by name to schools, malls or move theaters. A determined predator can find out the person with that information.
4. Make sure, your teen never post any information on his or her schedules. Also they should not reveal about parents’ schedules or vacations.
5. Your child should not agree to meet friends only met through Myspace. It may be not a bad plan to meet “cute-little-boy-16-sunil” - but Sunil might not be cute or 16. Do not venture real life trust on Myspace friends, so that you cal always have fun using it.
