Iphone is being marketed as the next best thing. iPhone, the revolutionary combination of a mobile phone, widescreen iPod, and Internet communications device, has come to the online Apple Store and retail Apple Stores on June 29, 2007, with AT&T as the exclusive U. So when I first heard of the Apple iPhone, I was excited. iPhone looks cool and may someday be “the” phone to have but rather than being on the bleeding edge, I think I’ll wait for it to be battle tested by the masses.

The iPhone is the rare convergence device where things actually converge. What’s more, with the exception of learning to type on the iPhone, which requires some concentration, doing all those things on that five-ounce device is fun, in the same way that switching from an old command-line interface to the Macintosh graphical user interface in the mid-1980s was a kick. Apple can’t promise that the iPhone will be secure and reliable unless they limit third-party applications to running inside the browser. Joe Hewitt of Firebug fame has a different take on the iPhone AJAX announcement. I agree with Joe Hewitt that having a full-blown, AJAX-capable browser built into the iPhone is a very big deal.

Apple should open up iPhone development for the developers. Apple demanded a guaranteed sales volume for the iPhone, which the British mobile operator did not want to give, Dutch magazine Bright said on its Web site late on Tuesday. You can’t install new programs from anyone but Apple; other companies can create only iPhone-tailored mini-programs on the Web. Do whatever you wish to your iPhone, but do so at your own risk :).
